About this place
When you are craving a proper fish meal at lunchtime, the fragrant aroma of grilled fish is naturally the first thing that comes to mind. At Uokiyo (魚喜代), a Japanese restaurant in Higashimukojima, lunch regulars gravitate toward the grilled fish set meals, choosing from the day's selections such as sablefish (gindara), sake-lees marinated fish (kasuzuke), mackerel, or salmon. Grilled until tender and flaky, the fish pairs seamlessly with warm rice, making each bite deeply satisfying. Beyond the grilled selections, the kitchen also offers colorful kaisendon topped with seasonal catches and marinated tuna rice bowls, giving diners enticing alternatives to match their appetite.
Come evening, the venue serves not only as an easy dining spot but also as a relaxed setting to unwind with drinks over shared seafood plates. The menu features sashimi such as lean tuna, squid, and octopus, alongside cured mackerel and fluffy satsuma-age fish cakes, providing an appealing array of drinking snacks. The drinks list is similarly well-rounded, covering shochu sours, tea highballs, whisky with water or on the rocks, as well as full bottles of shochu to accompany the meal.
Inside, the dining room holds a tranquil ambience, fitted with standard table seating alongside traditional tatami seating in the back. Whether visiting on your own for an unhurried set meal or gathering for an evening of fish and drinks, the space accommodates both rhythms with quiet ease.
